Returning to the Democratic Republic of Congo after his formal elevation to the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Laurent Monsengwo issued an appeal for peace in the embattled African nation.
In a related development, two soldiers have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Catholic priest, Father Christian Bakulene, last November. The accused soldiers are believed to be former members of a rebel force that has been partially integrated into the nation's army.
