WCC leader plans frank talk with Pope on ecumenical difficulties
CWN - December 03, 2010
Pope Benedict XVI will meet on December 4 with Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit, the secretary-general of the World Council of Churches (WCC).
The Norwegian Lutheran will be meeting with the Pontiff for the first time since he was selected in January to head the WCC in January. He said that he and the Pope should “speak honestly” about the difficulties facing ecumenical work. “There are expectations for the ecumenical movement that have not been fulfilled, and there are tensions arising in and between churches," he said.
