India: court rejects challenge on Sonia Gandhi's religious faith

A court in India has rejected a petition for disclosure of the religious affiliation of Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Party.
Born in Italy and baptized as a Catholic, Sonia Gandhi has emerged as one of India’s most prominent political leaders since the death of her husband, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Her background has caused consternation among Hindu militants.
