California man will raise abuse issue in trial for beating priest
CWN - November 12, 2010
A California man who faces trial for battering a Jesuit priest has told AP that he plans to use his trial as a forum in which to expose the priest’s record of sexual abuse.
"Somebody needs to be a face for this abuse and I'm prepared to put myself on the line," Will Lynch told AP. He plans to tell a California court that Father Jerold Lindner raped and tortured him and his brother in 1975. Lynch says that the abuse has contributed to his subsequent struggles with alcohol, depression, divorce, and attempted suicide.
Lynch faces an assault charge for allegedly luring Father Lindner to a Jesuit retirement home, where he severely beat him in the lobby, with multiple witnesses present.
