Austrian nun beatified in Brazil

Archbishop Angelo Amato, prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, presided at the Mass of beatification of Blessed Maria Barbara of the Blessed Trinity (Barbara Maix) on November 6. The Mass took place in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Born in 1818, Sister Maria Barbara founded the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Expelled from Austria in 1849, she and 21 other members of her community made their way to Brazil. She died in 1873.
