Colombian bishops criticize free sterilizations at hospitals

The bishops of Colombia are criticizing a new law that provides for free tubal ligations and vascectomies at hospitals. Such practices are “mutilations of the body, and the body must be respected,” said Bishop Juan Vicente Cordoba Villota, the Jesuit auxiliary bishop of Bucaramanga and secretary general of the bishops’ conference.
