Australia to restrict commercial use of Bl. Mary MacKillop's name

The Australian government plans to set restrictions on the commercial use of the name of Blessed Mary MacKillop, responding to a rush of ventures hoping to exploit popular interest in Australia’s first canonized saint.
The government will set high standards for trademark applications involving the use of Mary MacKillop’s name, acknowledging “the significance of the canonization of Mary MacKillop for millions of Australians,” a spokesman for the prime minister said.
