European bishops' group calls attention to persecution of Christians
CWN - October 05, 2010
The Commission of Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community (COMECE) has launched an effort to support religious freedom, especially for Christians.
“Violations of the right to freedom of religion or belief take place all over the world and it affects an estimated 100 million Christians every year,” COMECE notes. The group cites statistics showing that 75% of those who die in “religious-based hate crimes” are Christians.
