Priest: Pakistan in desperate need of aid

CWN - September 20, 2010

Pakistan is in desperate need to aid to assist the 15 million who had to leave their homes because of recent flooding, according to the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies there.

“We are in need of all the help we can get for emergency relief and rehabilitation,” said Father Mario Rodriguez. “Now it looks as if the season of autumn sowing will also be lost, resulting in severe suffering for the population. The agricultural economy of the country is on its knees and this will lead to food insecurity, hunger for millions of people.”
