Some Belgian Catholics renounce baptism
CWN - September 14, 2010
A rising number of disaffected Catholics in Belgium are formally renouncing their faith, with the help of a secular-humanist group.
The Flemish Humanist-Secular Society claims that 869 people have completed a process that the group calls “de-baptism.” The term is inaccurate. It is impossible for a baptized person to reverse the effect of the sacrament. It is possible—albeit unusual—for a Catholic officially to renounce the faith.
