Profile of scientists behind lawsuit on embryonic stem-cell research
CWN - September 02, 2010
The Wall Street Journal profiles the two scientists whose lawsuit prompted a federal judge to halt federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research: James Sherley and Theresa Deisher. Both are unabashedly pro-life, and their convictions influenced their decisions to join in the suit. But they are also scientists, looking for an equal opportunity to win funding for research using stem cells from adult sources.
"Any adult stem cell scientist is disadvantaged, and that's because there is a deliberate focus to fund embryonic stem cell research and a focus away from adult stem cell research," Dr. Deisher said.
