Australian priest convicted for molesting teenage girl
CWN - August 27, 2010
A priest of the Archdiocese of Brisbane has been sentenced to three months in prison for sexually abusing a young teenage girl back in the late 1970s. The victim, now 43, wore a tape-recording device when she confronted Father Murray Alexander Moffat last year, and he admitted the abuse.
“The archdiocese offers a sincere apology to the victim,” said Archbishop John Bathersby. “We credit greatly her courage in coming forward to speak with the police so that justice might be achieved.”
