Ex-priest in California faces extradition to Ireland on abuse charges
CWN - August 11, 2010
A former priest who lives in California is facing extradition to Ireland on nine counts of indecent assault and one count of attempted indecent assault. While not admitting the abuse, Patrick McCabe told police that “I got satisfaction from an embrace and being close to a boy.”
The incidents of abuse allegedly took place in Dublin between 1973 and 1981. Bishop Mark Hurley of Santa Rosa-- who reportedly knew he had committed abuse-- then allowed him to minister in his California diocese until 1985, when new allegations were reportedly made. McCabe left the priesthood in 1988.
