A 76-year-old priest of the Diocese of Knoxville has been indicted in Virginia on charges of sodomy and indecent liberties following an allegation that he abused a boy during a 1978 trip. Father William Casey was convicted in North Carolina last month on similar charges and sentenced to two years’ probation.
Warren Tucker alleges that Father William Casey abused him 50 times over a five-year period three decades ago. Because of Tennessee’s statute of limitations, Mr. Tucker is seeking redress in other states, where incidents of abuse allegedly occurred during trips with Father Casey. The priest has admitted committing abuse.
