Education is key to Christian-Muslim coexistence, says Patriarch of Venice
Catholic World News - June 22, 2010
Education is the way to overcome fundamentalism, Cardinal Angelo Scola of Venice said at a meeting of the Oasis Foundation, a group that he founded to advance dialogue between the Christian and Muslim worlds.
Cardinal Scola said that Lebanon had long been a model of peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in large part because of the country’s advanced educational system. The Oasis Foundation, which alternatives its annual conferences between Venice and other sites, is meeting this year outside Beirut.
