All Christians should take up the Cross, Pope reminds Sunday audience
CWN - June 21, 2010
At his midday Sunday audience on June 21, Pope Benedict XVI said that all Christians must recognize the Cross as “pinnacle of our good and crown of our hope.”
Reminding the crowd in St. Peter’s Square that he had just ordained new priests for the Rome diocese, the Pope said that priests must show a “complete willingness to become instruments” of God’s will. But all of the faithful, he continued, should respond to the Lord’s invitation to “daily take up their cross-- both the cross of everyday trials and that of human barbarity which sometimes requires the courage of the supreme sacrifice.”
