President Barack Obama has paid tribute to the Catholic Health Association (CHA) for the group’s “help and courage in passing health-care reform” despite the US bishops’ statement of opposition to the legislation.
President Obama sent a videotaped message to a CHA convention in Denver, offering special praise for Sister Carol Keehan, the group’s president. Senator Robert Casey of Pennsylvania added his own praise for the CHA role in gaining passage of the health-care reform bill.
