Court orders release of depositions by Cardinal Mahony, other LA archdiocesan officials

June 11, 2010

A California court has ordered the public release of depositions by Cardinal Roger Mahony and other officials of the Los Angeles archdiocese in a notorious sex-abuse case.

The depositions, running to over 600 pages, will be released after they have been edited to avoiding identifying sex-abuse victims.

Tod Tamberg, a spokesman for the Los Angeles archdiocese, said that the documents will contain no important new information about the case, which is the subject of a continuing grand-jury investigation.

we're still waiting for the release of documents from the settlements of several years ago, too. while no news will be uncovered, the vast expanse of official cover-ups will be displayed for all to see. and then many will wonder why the pope waited so long to replace him.
