Pope meets with president of Dominican Republic

Pope Benedict XVI met on May 21 with President Leonel Antonio Fernandez Reyna of the Dominican Republic, for a conversation that centered on the current challeges facing that country and especially "the importance of continuing to promote human life, from conception until natural death." The Pope took special note of the important role that officials in the Dominican Republic have played in coordinating relief efforts to help hurricane victims in neighboring Haiti.
