Judge: Scranton diocese owes former teachers more than $1M
May 18, 2010
A county judge in Pennsylvania ruled on May 17 that the Diocese of Scranton must pay former teachers from five Catholic schools over $1 million in severance pay and accumulated sick leave in accord with their former contracts. The money had previously been awarded to the teachers in a 2008 arbitration hearing, but the diocese had not paid the teachers.
