Vatican turns down appeals on Boston parish closings

The Vatican has rejected a final canonical appeal from a group in the Boston archdiocese that had fought the closing of 10 parishes. The group, the Council of Parishes, has indicated that it may now turn to civil courts in its efforts to prevent the archdiocese from finally shutting down the parishes, which were slated for closing during a major contraction in 2004.

    Perhaps these vigil-antes can finally fold up their cots, turn in their keys, and get on with their lives in real parishes.
