New Swiss Guards to be sworn in May 6
CWN - May 04, 2010
Thirty new members of the Swiss Guard will be sworn in on May 6, in a colorful annual ceremony in the San Damaso courtyard of the Vatican.
The swearing-in ceremony for new recruits is held each year on the anniversary of the day when 147 members of the fabled Vatican unit were killed in the successful defense of Pope Clement VIII during the sack of Rome in 1527.
