Schedule set for papal visit to Turin

April 20, 2010

The Vatican has released the official schedule for a visit by Pope Benedict XVI to Turin on May 2. The Pope is making the trip to venerate the Shroud of Turin during the public exposition that will continue through May 23.

The Holy Father will leave Rome early on Sunday morning, arriving in Turin after a 1-hour flight. He will celebrate Mass at the Piazza San Carlo, have lunch with local bishops, and return to the same plaza for a meeting with young people. Later in the afternoon he will visit the cathedral of St. John, where the Shroud is being exhibited. Early in the evening he will meet with sick people at the Little House of Divine Providence, then return to the airport for his return flight to Rome.
