Report due from investigation into Legion of Christ?
March 15, 2010
Five bishops appointed to conduct an investigation into the Legion of Christ were due to deliver their report to the Vatican on March 15, according to AOL News. The Vatican has not confirmed the report, and an official response to the report-- if indeed it has been delivered today-- could be far in the future. The investigation is expected to address questions about whether current leaders of the religious order covered up evidence of misconduct by the founder, the late Father Marcial Maciel. The five bishops-- each assigned to inquire into the affairs of the Legionaries in different geographical areas-- might also make a suggestion on reforming or even dissolving the order.
