Obama White House downgrades religious freedom, former official charges

A former State Department official points out that while President Obama has claimed that religious freedom is a priority for his administration, he has not acted on that claim. The president is required to appoint an ambassador-at-large to monitor issues affecting religious freedom. Fourteen months into his administration, he has not yet made a nomination for that post.
