Papal condolences for Madeira flood victims

Pope Benedict XVI has sent a message of sympathy to the people of Madeira, promising his prayers for the victims of severe flooding on the Portuguese island. The Pope's message was conveyed in a telegram sent by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Secretary of State, to Bishop Antonio Jose Cavaco Carrilho of Funchal.
