Turkey's government might welcome Patriarch's appeal to European court

February 19, 2010

Turkey's government might welcome an appeal to the European courts by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, who wants permission to re-open an Orthodox theological school. Reform-minded officials might be pleased by a decision from Strasbourg, forcing the government to grant greater religious freedom to the country's Christian minority.
