John Allen of the National Catholic Reporter profiles Archbishop Gianfranco Ravasi, the president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, who has been capturing attention in Rome for his lively intelligence and open personality. The Italian archbishop, Allen remarks, "sometimes seems like the E.F. Hutton of the current crop of senior Vatican officials-- when he talks, people listen."
