Obama adviser stands by anti-Pope comment

Catholic World News - February 04, 2010

Harry Knox, the gay-rights activist who serves on President Obama's advisory council for faith-based initiatives, has refused to back away from his stament that Pope Benedict XVI is "hurting people in the name of Jesus." Speaking at the National Press Club, Knox insisted that the Pope is harming people by discouraging condom use. Knox dismissed as "simply incorrect" the scientific studies showing that condom distribution programs have failed to curb the spread of AIDS in Africa.
