Boston archdiocese unveils plan to encourage Confession during Lent

February 03, 2010

The Archdiocese of Boston has launched a special initiative to promote the sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent, announcing that priests will hear confessions at every parish church and chapel of the archdiocese each Wednesday evening of Lent between 6:30 and 8. The archdiocese has inaugurated a web site to promote the initiative, offering background about the sacrament, instruction on an examination of conscience, and a guide to making a good confession. The site, entitled "The Light Is On for You," includes a taped message from Bishop Robert Hennessey, a Boston auxiliary, who invites the faithful to realize "that unbelievable experience of joy becomes ours when we are forgiven.”
