Anti-Catholic Italian politician is leading candidate in Rome's region

Emma Bonino, a leftist politician with a long record of hostility toward the Catholic Church, is a leading candidate to become governor of the Lazio region in which Rome is located. Her candidacy has not encountered organized opposition from the Church; in fact many clerics support her.
