Paraguay’s president allegedly fathered child before he became a bishop

Paraguayan President Fernando Armindo Lugo Méndez is facing allegations that he fathered a woman born in 1987. Ordained a priest of the Society of the Divine Word in 1977, Lugo was ordained Bishop of San Pedro in 1994. He resigned from office in 2005 and was laicized in 2008 upon election as the nation’s president.
