Maintain Christian heritage, Pope urges Bulgarian ambassador

Pope Benedict XVI met on October 31 with a new ambassador from Bulgaria to the Holy See, and called attention to "the Christian culture which profoundly impregnates" Bulgarian society. The Pontiff told the new envoy, Nikola Ivanov Kaludov, that "countries must not sacrifice their own cultural identity in the process of constructing Europe."
