Papal message congratulates Armenian Apostolic patriarch on 10th anniversary

Pope Benedict XVI has sent a congratulatory message to Catholicos Karekin II, the head of the Armenian Apostolic Chuch, who is celebrating his 10th anniversary in that post. The Pope's message salutes the Armenian patriarch for his work to rebuild the Church in Armenia after the fall of Communism. The Pontiff also notes Karekin's "personal commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and friendship" with the Catholic Church. The Armenian Apostolic Church has moved steadily closer to the Vatican in recent ecumenical affairs.
