Jesuit college health policy includes contraceptive coverage [Updated]
October 08, 2009
Student health-insurance plans at Jesuit-run Boston College include coverage for contraceptives, the Cardinal Newman Society has revealed. Patrick Reilly, the president of the Cardinal Newman Society, challenged Boston College officials to "take immediate action to provide students with insurance options that conform to Catholic teachings."
Update: The Cardinal Newman Society has learned that contraceptive coverage is mandated by Massachusetts law for health-insurance programs. Although religious institutions are exempt from that requirement, Boston College is legally controlled by a lay board of directors, and thus does not qualify as a religious institution.

I'm confused. Belmont Abbey College is targeted by government bureaucrats because of the lack of contraceptive coverage in their insurance plan for their staff (brought on by its staff!). Now, Boston College which has coverage for contraception is being targeted for having it by the Cardinal Newman Society! I bet if you check all other, mostly Jesuit, "Catholic" colleges, you will find that they all have contraceptive coverage and more. As do most "Catholic" hospitals.
