Australian cardinal appalled by accusations of predator priest

August 17, 2009

Cardinal George Pell of Sydney, Australia described as "appalling and distressing" the news that police had arrest a local priest on charges that he had used an internet chat room to groom a young girl for sexual activity. The Sydney archdiocese has refused to pay bail for Father Robert Fuller. Cardinal Pell said that "the archdiocese will cooperate fully" with police investigating the reported crime.
