Time examines Newt Gingrich’s conversion
CWN - August 17, 2009
The conversion of Newt Gingrich, who was received into the Church on March 29, is the subject of an article in the August 24 edition of Time. Gingrich, who was baptized by Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington at a ceremony attended by Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, attributes his conversion to the grandeur of Catholic worship, the influence of his wife, and the Church’s intellectual tradition. “When you have 2,000 years of intellectual depth surrounding you,” he said, “it’s comforting.”
