First conviction in Orissa rioting

A court in India has convicted a Hindu extremist for his role in the savage anti-Christian violence that swept through the state of Orissa last year. Chakradhara Mallick was sentenced to four years in prison for torching the home of a Christian. The guilty verdict was the first pronounced against a member of the Hindu mobs that carried out a pogram against Christians.
