Some Irish religious feel bishops betrayed them in abuse investigation

An Irish Redemptorist priest has reported "enormous anger among religious" who "feel that they have been scapegoated" by the Irish hierarchy in the wake of a report detailing a history of abuse in institutions operated by religious orders. Father Tony Flannery told a television audience that the "Ryan Report" was the severe blow to the morale of religious orders, but the damage was compounded by the fact that Church leaders joined in public criticism of the religious without first consulting them. He objected to public criticism from Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin in partlcular.
