Irish religious orders to disclose assets in step toward new accord for abuse victims

The Irish government has announced that it expects Catholic religious order to provide an accurate accounting of their assets within the next month. The announcement came after Prime Minister Brian Cowen met with representatives of religious orders that were involved in administration of institutions where children were abused. The government has been pressing the religious orders to renegotiate an agreement that capped the damaged awarded to abuse victims.
