English nurse quits; ordered not to wear crucifix

An English Catholic nurse has left her job after being ordered not to wear a crucifix at work. Helen Slatter resigned a month after being disciplined by Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for wearing the 1-inch crucifix around her neck. Hospital administrators insisted that the crucifix was a violation of a ban on jewelry which was necessary for hygienic reasons.
