Italian bishops' newspaper prods Berlusconi on personal scandal

Avvenire, the daily newspaper owned by the Italian bishops' conference, has called upon Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to "respond to public opinion," offering a defense of his personal conduct after a new round of stories about the premier's behavior. Berlusconi is under fire because of stories that he recruited young women to attend private parties.
