Taiwan archbishop denounces Chinese monitoring, oppression

Joined by his Presbyeterian counterpart, Taiwan’s leading prelate has denounced “the Chinese government’s strict monitoring of interactions between Taiwanese and Chinese churches, as well as its crackdown on Catholics and church events in China,” according to a Taiwanese Presbyterian press release. Taipei Archbishop John Hung Shan-chuan, SVD, has sought the Presbyterians’ help in counseling people during a major Catholic evangelistic rally in November.
