Welcome cultural changes, diversity, Pope urges Roman university students

February 17, 2017

“Migrations are not a danger, but a challenge to grow,” Pope Francis said in a February 17 meeting with students at Roma Tre University.

During a visit to the Roman institution, also known as the Universita degli studi, the Pontiff answered a few questions from students. In reply to a question about European identity, he said that new influences should be welcomed. “There is a risk of globalization that fosters uniformity,” he said, and a “unity without differences” is sterile.

The Holy Father encouraged the young students to maintain a hopeful attitude, noting that the threat of unemployment and the empty promise of a hedonistic life pose serious threats. He remarked that some young people fall into addictions. For others, he said, the “lack of work leads them to go elsewhere and enlist in a terrorist army.” He speculated that they might be thinking that “at least that way I have something to do and I give meaning to life.” The Pope voiced his dismay at that way of thinking: “Terrible; terrible.”

The issue is not migrations in general but Islamic migrations and the danger of terrorism in the bosom of the migrants, and crime, and a lack of assimilation to the new culture. There is a real danger of Islamization. The Pope refuses to look at a reality staring him in the face and the problems in Germany, France, Sweden with large groups of migrants from Islamic countries. The Pope remains "in denial"about the reality of the migrations which is not altered by a papal social justice filter.

Yes welcome cultural change but not at demise of your own. More migration that your country cannot absorb, the more unemployment you get which leads to the unhappiness of those willing to be terrorists. However, I might add you don't see this amongst other "religions". This result seems to be predominantly Muslim. Shame but facts are facts which the Pope frequently likes to ignore.

As noted in another post, it would be nice if the message went the other way: welcome your new cultural setting and try real hard not to burn it down. That way of thinking is terrible; terrible.

The Lord never said: "Go into the world and preach cultural changes and diversity to all creation."
