UN committee presses Nicaragua on abortion, cites convention against torture

In a spectacular new display of pro-abortion activism by UN officials, a committee responsible for implementing an international pact against torture has questioned Nicaragua's ban on abortion. The committee joins three other UN groups that have pressed the Central American nation on the issue since Nicaragua's new abortion law went into effect three years ago.
