December 13, 2016
Catholic World Report profiles Antonio Guterres, Portuguese Catholic politician who will be the next secretary-general of the UN.
Guterres, an active Catholic and founder of a Catholic charitable group, was prime minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002. While in office he was a public opponent of a referendum bid by leftists politicians to liberalize the country’s abortion law; the referendum was unsuccessful.
