Pope recalls day of prayer for cloistered religious

November 21, 2016

In his November 20 Angelus address, Pope Francis thanked the Italian government, the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, and others who offered assistance during the extraordinary jubilee year of mercy.

The Pope also recalled that November 21, the memorial of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is also Pro Orantibus Day—a day of prayer for cloistered religious.

“I would especially like to thank the sisters, on the eve of Pro Orantibus Day, which will be celebrated tomorrow,” he said at the conclusion of Mass in St. Peter’s Square. “I encourage everyone to have a special remembrance for these, our sisters, who are totally dedicated to prayer and need spiritual and material solidarity.”
