Judge blocks enforcement of Obama transgender-bathroom policy

October 20, 2016

A federal judge has issued a nationwide block on enforcement of an Obama-administration policy directive requiring all public schools to give “trangender” boys access to girls’ bathrooms and locker rooms.

Judge Reed O’Connor, who had issued an injunction in August to prevent enforcement of the policy, rejected a plea from the Obama administration that his injunction should apply only to the 13 states that had challenged the policy. The judge ruled that the relevant federal statutes require “consistent, uniform application of national standards in education and workplace policy.” Therefore, he ruled, “A geographically limited injunction would be ineffective.”

Thank Goodness a judge has shown that this policy is wrong. Thanks your honor.

I'm disappointed by the spin in the first paragraph. I'm as opposed to this silliness as anyone, but I dislike it when organizations spin things to stir up fear/anger. The rules also give "transgender" girls access to boys locker rooms. The only reason to put it the way it was written is to try to stir up an emotional reaction. It's also journalistically negligent since it implies girls won't have access to boys locker rooms.
