Pope backs initiative against child labor

Pope Francis has lent his support to a national Brazilian initiative to eliminate child labor.
Writing to the cardinal archbishop of Aparecida, Pope Francis said that children are a “sign of hope” who should be “welcomed, loved, protected by a wise family, a better society, a more human world.”
The Pope wrote his letter as the Church in Brazil begins a year commemorating the 300th anniversary of the discovery of the image of Our Lady of Aparecida.

And of course all labor is bad if a child is doing it. Ronald Reagan had his first job at age 10, and we all know how it ruined his life. The people of Berlin are still suffering from that divisive wall, right? And the Soviet Union is still a huge menace on the world stage, right?

My question is whether there is an exemption for farm labour. If not, the Pope is wrong. In the U.S., child labour laws are being used to eliminate more family farms.....
