India: Islamic State threats against Christian churches

Security officials in India are investigating reports that terrorists associated with the Islamic State have targeted Christians in the state of Kerela.

After arresting and questioning members of an Islamic terrorist cell, police reportedly spoke of plans for attacks on “a denomination of Christians of Syrian lineage” in Kerela. Most of the Christians in Kerela—the state with India’s highest concentration of Christians—are affiliated with the Syriac tradition.
